This futuristic “seating concept” by Leolux was immediately recognized by the experts and awarded the prize for the best Dutch furniture design in 1989. Designer Roy de Scheemaker has the following to say about Pallone: 'My inspiration was Goldfinger, Barbarella and the Baardmans and Kale comic strip, without nostalgic retrospection or imitation of shapes or colors. I wanted people to be able to sit comfortably whilst making a beautiful composition. I tried to design a floating cushion but with this, one naturally creates a problem in the design that needs to be solved. The back is clearly an addition, the legs are secondary. Finally a movable, light chair came into being that is extremely comfortable. A chair that has spirit and humor.'
